This is the story that inspired me to know what I wanted my work to be about. American Splendor written by Harvey Pekar is all about his life and the struggles with being the average man. When Pekar discovers he has cancer he decides to write a comic about his experience about it.
I was dealing with a hard time myself. Dealing with different issues with my life I thought this could be a way to get it out, to deal with my problems and hope that they would inspire someone else as well.
Next time I will post the first page of the comic where I applied this philosophy, and go into detail about the work and what happened and what it means to me, but for now, this is a tribute to Harvey Pekar, Joyce Brabner, and Frank Stack. Thanks for coming together on this.
